Plain-language terms for using our SMS weather service.

Quick summary

- Free service: text your latitude / longitude (+ optional altitude) to get current & near-term weather. Tips keep the lights on.
- Opt-in / Opt-out: Message frequency varies. Text STOP to end, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.
- No resale or sharing: We never sell or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing.
- Minimal data: We keep only what’s needed to run the service and what the law requires, then we delete it.
- Safety: Weather changes fast — don’t use this as your only safety-critical source or for emergencies.
- Fair use: Be respectful, lawful, don’t abuse the system.
- Liability: Service is provided “as is”; our liability is limited to the max allowed by law.

1) How the service works

Send a text to [10-DLC placeholder number] in the format:

We reply with current / near-term weather. We may switch to a short-code later as volume grows.

2) Eligibility

Must be 13 or older; 13–17 need parent/guardian permission. US intended-use only.

3) Messaging terms (required disclosures)

- Msg & data rates may apply.
- Msg frequency varies.
- Text STOP to cancel. HELP for help.
- Wireless carriers aren’t liable for delayed / undelivered messages.
- Opt-outs go onto a do-not-text list to honor your choice.

4) Tips

- Tips are optional, keep the service free.
- Tips are not a purchase, may be non-refundable, not tax-deductible.
- TIP / TIPS keyword triggers link to payment via Stripe.

5) Acceptable use

No illegal activity, no interference, no scraping, no harassment.

6) Safety & reliability

We’re not NOAA/NWS. Weather data can be delayed/incomplete/inaccurate.
Not for emergencies — call 911 if needed.

7) IP ownership

All text, templates, code belong to us or our licensors; personal, non-commercial use only unless we agree otherwise.

8) Changes

We can add/change/remove features any time; update “Effective date” if material changes.

9) Disclaimers & liability limits

Service is provided “as is” with no warranties. Liability capped at greater of $100 or tips paid in prior 12 months.

10) Governing law & venue

Colorado law (ignoring conflict-of-law rules); exclusive venue: courts in Fort Collins / Larimer County / Colorado.
